Bo Chi Lam (寶芝林)

Bo Chi Lam was once the name of the legendary healing practice of Wong Kei Ying (黃麒英) and Wong Fei Hung (黃飛鴻), in which Hung Gar Kuen was also taught.

History & Origin

Bo Chi Lam was an exemplary institution of the Wong family: on the one hand, people found medical help here, as Wong Kei Ying and Wong Fei Hung were outstanding Chinese physicians – on the other hand, students were trained in Hung Gar Kung Fu.

The school united healing and martial arts: strengthening health, resisting injustice and protecting those in need. Wong Kei Ying and Wong Fei Hung were widely known for this stance.

The tradition of the Bo Chi Lam school is rooted in the values of the Southern Shaolin Temple and the legacy of Hung Hei Gun (洪熙官). These values are lived and passed on in authentic form today at the Bo Chi Lam Hung Kuen school.

The Meaning of the Name

The name "Bo Chi Lam" means "the forest of noble herbs" and is composed of the following characters:

The Legacy Today

Bo Chi Lam was an exemplary institution where the Wong family always stood by those in need. The school combined medical care with the teaching of Hung Gar Kung Fu – both serving the health and protection of people.

Today, Dai Sifu Hagen Bluck leads the Bo Chi Lam Hung Gar Kuen Martial Arts School according to the same traditional and moral values as Wong Kei Ying and Wong Fei Hung once did.

Our goal is to remind people of these ancient virtues once more – so they recognize that herein lie true fulfillment and the foundation of a happy life.
